A Machine Uprising? Terminator Salvation Review

The End Begins. That is the tag line of this film, directed by McG, starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington. While the film critics may be ripping this film apart, they are not looking at the bigger picture of what yet can come. While this film disappoints, in many ways it delivered a message of hope and revision for this classic franchise. Read the rest of the review after the jump.

Judgement Day Is Here

Well, technically Judgement Day was in 2004, according to the Terminator universe, but today is the day Terminator Salvation is released in the United States, so most if not all of the ARG should be wrapping up. Proof of that is the current state of Skynet’s website, shows a big red “…Recalculating…” on each page. The guys over at Resistorbeterminated.com seem to think this means they’ve won with their hacking efforts, but as we all know, they are sadly wrong.

This Terminator Salvation viral update comes to us thanks to cwoolboy in our forums. Recently, if you’ve checked out the Skynet website’s product page, you may have noticed that if you position your cursor over the “P” in “Products”, a dialog box opens for you to enter a password. Well, now we know the password is “skynetresearchinitiatephasetwoprojectjudgementday”. Long, I know. The interesting results of entering the password after the jump.

This Week In Viral: Yeah, We’re Still Here

Sorry for the long break. Let’s get down to business. So, two more virals have come to pass this year, with Star Trek and Angels & Demons now behind us. Listen to our review of the viral campaigns in our latest ViralCast. With the death of two virals, a new viral is born. More viral news after the jump.

Angels & Demons Review

There has been much controversy over the new Ron Howard film, Angels & Demons, which released April 15th. This cinematic sequel to The Da Vinci Code calls on Robert Langdon – a Harvard Symbolist – once again, but this time to help the Catholic Church. Ron Howard takes the crowd on an exciting experience throughout Rome and the Vatican City. And it ends, one would say, with a bang. Read more after the jump.

Star Trek Review

JJ Abrams’ Star Trek, a reboot (of sorts) of the franchise with the same name, releases nationwide today. I was lucky enough to see one of the limited early showings last night on IMAX. I could go into the whole “you need to see it in IMAX” discussion, but that’s true of any action and FX-heavy movie, and Star Trek is no exception. As a Trekkie, there is only one thing I can say about the new Star Trek: Wow. Abrams has done it again, and even better, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have redeemed themselves as writers after the debacle that was the Transformers script. Read my full (spoiler-free) review after the jump.

Breaking: New District 9 Poster = Awesome

MovieViral doesn’t really bring up breaking movie news, but District 9 has been our huge hook for the year, since Nick posts these updates at our sister website District 9 News. Yahoo Movies has officially released the first District 9 teaser poster! I really think the poster is great, especially showing how humans don’t want the alien’s presence (i.e “You Are Not Welcome Here” quote).
