Comic-Con: LOST Viral – LostUniversity

At the LOST panel today at Comic-Con, a new viral website was unveiled: LostUniversity.

Now, before I go any further, I’d just like to say that I’m not educated in the LOST universe, so I’m not 100% sure what a lot of things on the site mean, so these are just things I’ve noticed from browsing the site.

-Enrollment begins on September 22nd, 2009. There is a simple form for you to fill out, after which they will contact you on September 22nd to notify you of enrollment beginning. The first semester officially starts on December 8th, 2009. Do those dates play into LOST somehow? I have no idea, but I’m pretty sure everything on that show is a mystery.

-Semester One classes are as follows:

HIS 101: ANCIENT WRITING ON THE WALL

LAN 101: FOREIGN LANGUAGE FOR BEGINNERS

PHI 101: I’M LOST, THEREFORE I AM

PHY 101: INTRODUCTORY PHYSICS OF TIME TRAVEL

PHY 301 SEMINAR: NEW PHYSICS WITH JEREMY DAVIES

SCI 201: JUNGLE SURVIVAL BASICS

Semester Two classes are as follows:

ART 101 SEMINAR: INSPIRATION & EXPRESSION WITH JACK BENDER

LAN 201: ADVANCED FOREIGN LANGUAGE

PHI 201: I’M RIGHT, YOU’RE WRONG: THE US VS. THEM MENTALITY

PHY 201: ADVANCED PHYSICS OF TIME TRAVEL

PSY 201: SELF DISCOVERY THROUGH FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS

Some classes are noted to have no homework or exams whatsoever, which I find intriguing.

Now, what’s interesting (and perhaps funny) about this website is that ABC goes out of their way to make it blatantly obvious that this isn’t real and that it’s part of their site.

So, this is just stuff I found after snooping the site for a little bit. If you find anything else, feel free to leave a comment and let us know!

The show’s site also has a fake video series titles “Mysteries of the Universe” that claims the Dharma Initiative is a vast conspiracy.
The sixth and final season of LOST starts in February of 2010.

District 9 Tickets On Sale Now

Just a quick little heads up on a Sunday afternoon, District 9 tickets have gone on sale at Fandango! There will probably be midnight showings, but that varies depending on what theater and where that theater is.

The movie opens in just under 3 weeks, so you have plenty of time to pre-order tickets if you can’t for a couple days or so.

District 9 hits theaters everywhere on August 14th.

District 9

Sidenote: make sure to check back later tonight for another ViralCast with Dan, Scott, myself and our two reporters at Comic-Con, Rose and Kelsey will be talking about all things Comic-Con.

Thanks to Ronan in the forums for pointing it out.

District 9 – A Couple of Updates

New blog on MNUSpreadslies.com:

Nothing major in the blog, but the comments are interesting. Seems like Christopher wants to be friends with the humans, the same humans he started his blog to be against, and is now getting grief about it.

And, a new pic was found on io9.com

Looks like Agent Wikus can add “carjacking” to his list of problems.

Friday Comic-Con 2009 Updates

So, by now, Comic-Con is in full swing and updates are pouring in constantly. Here’s the jist of what’s been happening so far:

  • Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland teaser is now online.
  • James Cameron’s epic AVATAR had it’s first footage screened yesterday, and, as expected, everyone loved it.
  • After the footage was shown, James Cameron let out a doozy: on August 21st in 3D theaters everywhere, 15 minutes of AVATAR will be shown for free.
  • In the Q&A for his new movie, The Book of Eli (a trailer is available here), Gary Oldman stated that, quote:

The next Batman is next year, so I think it is two years away. But you didn’t hear it from me.

  • District 9 had it’s first screening last night, and has yielded positive responses by everyone who saw it.
  • District 9 director Neil Blomkamp gave an update on the Halo movie, saying he’d rather work on his own ideas at this point, and that he’d probably turn the movie down if it was offered to him.
  • At the District 9 panel, Peter Jackson and Neil gave some insight into the film, including “District 9 was made for the scifi fans and was never made to transcend – if it does, its a testament to the story” and “inspiration for aliens in District 9 was that they were insects who have lost their queen and evolved” (paraphrased quotes are direct from Kelsey’s Twitter)
  • The Tron 2 (now known as TRON Legacy) teaser trailer that was shown last year is now available.
  • Speaking of TRON Legacy, Disney had quite a unique viral game for the movie last night.
  • And we have to mention New Moon, i guess. Two clips were shown and leaked online, but I recommend turning your sound down when watching. Despite all the screaming girls, the clips looked pretty solid.

So, those are the biggest things to pop out of Comic-Con thus far. Remember to follow our Comic-Con reporters, Rose and Kelsey, who will both be appearing as very special guests on this weeks ViralCast!

2012 – Comic-Con Updates

1 – www.whowillsurvive2012.com is updated:

A – New design
B – A game is coming soon for what looks to be for the iPhone
C – download a wallpaper

2 – www.thisistheend.com is updated (written by Charlie Frost):

A -

Just landed the winnie in sunny San Diego. Things are heating up around the convention center, and not just because of the intense solar rays. The line-up looks great this year. With only 4 Comic-Cons left, I guess they’re pulling out all the stops. I heard there are going to be some Mayan experts on one of the panels. Searching the schedule now. But hit me back @CharlieFrost on Twitter if you have more info.

Also did anyone get the press release from The IHC this week? If not, check it out here.

According to @TheIHC on Twitter, the search for the Ambassadors mentioned in the press release will happen at Comic-con. Interesting. Will update you as I learn more.

B -

This place is packed today. You gotta see it to believe it. Or tweet to believe it, evidently. I got this postcard on the way in to the convention center this morning.

I think it’s cute how The IHC is planning an election and looking for ambassadors for the Post-2012 world. The oxymoron of that phrase cracks me up every time. But you’ll notice the card says they’re giving away gifts. Tweet away amigo. Probably some good stuff.

C -

I wasn’t planning on devoting so much time to The IHC while I was here, but you can’t script stuff better than this. I have it on the down low that Dr. Ulfert has reached out to some bloggers (see pic) about The IHC efforts. I guess Dr. Ulfert forgot about moi self. Offended? Nah. Horse crap, if you ask me.

Remember, folks, you heard it first from Charlie….there is no such thing as Post-2012.

D -

If you’ve been reading my blog or following me on Twitter, you know how I feel about the IHC’s survival lottery – tom foolery. But you can sign up for a lottery ticket at their Comic-Con booth and also enter into some raffle. My favorite thing they’re giving away? Huge bags that you can fit a small village in. Perfect when packing for 2012.

So if anyone sees Charlie Frost in San Diego, tell him MovieViral.com says hello.

District 9 – Guns and Ammo

So the other day, Ian had posted an article in regards to a new picture of Agent Wikus (here). Then there was a discussion of the gun he was holding. Well, apparently MNU has ads out for that gun. More after jump!

Comic-Con: Want To See The Avatar Trailer? Not In San Diego?

Keep in mind that this is a shot in the dark, and just a crazy theory.

Yesterday, youtube uploaded a video that stated videos could now be played in 3-D. Now, is it not a weird coincidence that they announced this a day before footage from the biggest 3-D film ever debuts at comic-con? I think not. James Cameron has said many times that he wants Avatar to debut in 3-D, yet before today, no site allowed 3-D as an option, now YouTube does. All the pieces are lined up for a huge trailer debut. Although it isn’t RealD, it is still 3-D.

Ill be keeping tabs on youtube for the rest of the weekend, and if my theory is correct, we’ll post an update to this article with the trailer attached. Until then, you can follow our Comic-Con reporters,  Rose, and Kelsey.

Even More District 9 Updates!

District9movie.com as a few new updates to report on well. If you hover over the statue, you will get 2 news clips (one on the human, one on the non-human).

One clip talks about the seizing of weapons, both alien and police, while the other talks about setting up possible safe zones in Canada and Switzerland for the aliens.

Also, if you hover over the tower, “Leaked Intelligence” shows up.

Clicking on it asks you to save a PDF file, however the file does not seem to save. Did they forget to attach it? As soon as it shows up, we’ll have it for you.

UPDATE: You can now download the file. We have a copy here.

And, a new site has been added to their helpful viral links at the bottoms of their pages.

Multi-National Untied Training Simulation. This simulator uses your webcam and has you print of a badge to flash.

Check it out and tell us what you think!

District 9 Interview Videos

If you head over to D-9.com, you will see they have loaded up videos of 6 new interviews. However, this time they look to be interviewing people OUTSIDE of Johannesburg, and none of them seem to care for the Non-Humans. I apologize, but I can’t get them to not auto-run.

Comic-Con Coverage Update

Alright folks, we have an update on our Comic-Con coverage. We are having special guest Rose Meza from ShredorDie.com reporting from inside the walls of the convention center. You can follow her on Twitter for live updates, and we’ll be posting anything she finds on the site, of course. She may even drop by to write an article or two herself.

Rose will be covering mostly Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday of Comic-Con, so we are currently working on getting another special guest for Thursday and Friday. We’ll update this post as soon as we confirm.

Of course, follow our own Twitter to get even more Comic-Con news, and follow our Comic-Con coverage right here on the site.

Update: We have our special guest reporter for Thursday and Friday now. Her name is Kelsey and you can follow her on Twitter as well.

I just want to give my sincere thanks to Rose and Kelz for doing this for us.
