This is very well-reasoned, and I feel your pain. As both a sci-fi and fantasy fiction fan who has worked in tech for 25+ years, I am on fire to see this and sometimes fear that the marketing might defeat a great work of 21st century cinema . . . but I remind us both that 1) Star Wars opened in less than 40 theatres with only the most primitive viral marketing and 2) Titanic opened among general expectation that it would bomb and bankrupt everyone involved in the production. Until some people see the entire 'film' in IMAX 3-D, we're all just betting on (or against) the HMFIC . . . and do we really have any good reason to bet against him?
