Repo! started in the early 2000s. Before that it was a 10 minute opera called ‘The Necromerchant’s Debt’ that came out in the late 1990s.

Reposession Mambo came out in 2008 & the author *swore* that he’d never been to any of the Repo! stage shows or anything to that nature & that he’d been working on the book for “years”. While it’s not illegal to take an idea & re-work it, it’s very VERY obvious that he took several plot ideas from Repo!. The setting is identical- it’s just the characters have changed.
