STAR WARS INSTAGRAM CLIP GOES VIRAL

STAR WARS : THE FORCE AWAKENS

A NEW INSTAGRAM MINI TRAILER TO KEEP YOU GOING

With September now upon us, time IS flying until the release of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. But for some, it’s simply not flying fast enough. And with no new trailer as yet (and possibly never, at this rate although hope springs eternal for September: it makes sense), fans are desperate for every new glimpse.

And so, those helpful people at INSTAGRAM have given us what we want to kill the pangs for a while. It’s a new mini trailer. On the one hand, a little bit cheeky in so far as we get a LOT of sights and sounds already shared previously. It’s even titled ‘THERE HAS BEEN AN AWAKENING’ (which was the opening to the first trailer, launched just under a year ago).

But there IS new stuff here, albeit in very small glimpses (thereby avoiding pre-release saturation). And it is VERY encouraging. There is some haunting score, presumably from JOHN WILLIAMS. We get a repeat of the FIRST ORDER parade shot but it lasts longer and is thereby even more lingering in its ominous menace.

The sound has been amped up it seems, so the villainous (well, presumably villainous, given the husky voice?) voice narrating the action feels more central to whichever plot is being set up here. My money is still on ANDY SERKIS as SNOKE, with the character being a kind of evil version of Yoda, advising KYLO REN and the FIRST ORDER top brass?

Critically, the new shots that we DO get are something truly magical. The sight of a blue light saber owning the screen, in the hands of a youthful yet powerful hero (Finn, played by John Boyega) FEELS like STAR WARS, properly. It is somehow new and old at once: the kind of imagery extending the old mythology that you wanted to see from the first moment you became a STAR WARS fan. It is mystical, urgent, atmospheric. Slightly scary but also upbeat and fast moving FUN.

See for yourself below. Bodes well..
