Star Wars Blu-Ray Early Access App

Greetings, fellow readers! It’s been a while since I’ve last done an article for the site, so I’ve decided to do a brief article on the recently released sneak peek iTunes app for next month’s 9-disk Star Wars Blu-Ray set. The set, due out September 16, will contain all 6 films digitally remastered as well as over 40 hours of bonus features, including never before seen deleted and extended scenes from all the films (along with some for the original Trilogy, as previously revealed). The app, however, only gives us a sampling of what we’re going to be getting in a few weeks.

Tron Vs. Tron Legacy: Which is the Better Film?

Tron

With the release of TRON: Legacy on Blu-Ray this past week (and the re-release of the original TRON from 1982 on the same day), fans of the cult Disney film-turned-blockbuster-success are jumping in joy to see both these films in HD for the first time. However, newcomers to the Tron franchise might not be as excited due to their lack of knowledge of what it’s about. With that in mind, allow me to compare the two films in detail as a way of explaining why this series is so famous. This article will be divided into three categories: Story, Visuals, and Music, with decisions made as to which of the two films does better in these areas. Without further ado, let’s dive into the Grid and take a look at Tron and Tron Legacy.

Short Film “Mortal Kombat Rebirth” Gets 10-Episode Webseries!

Back in June 2010, a 9-minute short film called Mortal Kombat: Rebirth was released onto the Internet to much controversy (or would that be “Kontroversy”, har, har, har) amongst gamers and Mortal Kombat fans alike. The video, a Christopher Nolan-esque “realistic” take on the series’ universe, was intended to be test footage for a potential new film adaptation that the director, Kevin Tancharoen, wanted to have made. Now, it looks like Tancharoen might be getting his chance!

“Ultramarines: The Movie” Review

This may come as a surprise to you guys, but I know very little about the Warhammer 40,000 mythology. That aside, I REALLY enjoyed Ultramarines: The Movie. Despite being a straight-to-DVD CGI film, it’s particularly well done. But before I go into specifics in my review, here’s the plot of the movie in a nutshell.

Tron Legacy Soundtrack Review: A New Breed of Film Score

When people think about how film scores are done, they usually think of the works of people like John Williams, Alan Silvestri, and Danny Elfman; orchestral pieces that still hold up today. However, with the release of the highly-anticipated soundtrack for TRON: Legacy, all that is about to change. The score in question, composed by Grammy-winning French techno duo Daft Punk, is a unique blend of a 100-piece orchestra with bits (no pun intended, Tron fans) of their signature electronica sounds thrown in that might just change the way film scores are composed. Having just finished listening to the CD (due out today) myself, I can easily say it’s definitely worth the year-long wait!

Electrifying The Boys and Girls: A Detailed Report on Tron Night!

Just returned from my local Tron Night screening, and I must say, I think Disney’s done a great job getting people geared up for Tron Legacy so far! But before I get into why I think Disney’s got a hit on their hands, I’ll explain in great detail what I saw tonight. Basically, the footage shown is similar to something press members in NYC saw last month. However, this is a good thing, since the scenes Disney selected for them (and, in turn, us Tron Night participants) were REALLY well done.

New York Comic-Con Report: Universal Panels for “Your Highness” and “The Thing”

I just returned from my experience New York Comic-Con yesterday, and I have some really cool things I’d like to tell you guys about from my time there. This is the first of a set of articles for both MovieViral and our sister site GamingViral, so keep your eyes peeled for what I have to say about all the stuff I attended.

Clash of the Titans Review: The Kraken is Released, and It Doesn’t Disappoint!

Almost 30 years ago in 1981, legendary producer and stop-motion animator, Ray Harryhausen, released the classic Greek mythology epic, Clash of the Titans, starring Harry Hamlin as the Greek hero Perseus, and Laurence Olivier as Zeus. The film tells the story of how Perseus defeated both the mythical creature, Medusa, and the sea monster known as the Kraken. It became a box office hit that June, and has gone on to inspire many Greek mythology-based films. Now, Louis Leterrier, director of the Transporter series and 2008’s Incredible Hulk revival, has released a remake of Clash of the Titans, with a new look and today’s big-name actors. The question is, does this new adaptation of the ancient Greek myth respect the previous movie or is it just another lame remake shelled out to make money?

3D Reviews: Alice In Wonderland and Tron Legacy Trailer

I saw Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland at my local IMAX theater, and I must say, it was FANTASTIC! I’m keeping this review short because I’ve got a certain “something else” to cover in connection to seeing this film, but I can easily say that, including the brilliant 3D effects, Tim Burton did an excellent job and was VERY loyal to the feel of the famous Lewis Carroll books. The rest of this review and my take on the Tron Legacy Trailer after the break.

Heavy Rain Viral: Week 2 Report – The Investigation Continues!

As promised, I’m back with a report of Week 2 of Sony’s Heavy Rain “Four Days Challenge” viral. I can now officially say that I’ll be covering the next few weeks of the event as well, so expect updates on this each week until it ends.

After the disappointing end to week one (all it led to was a Facebook quiz), we next got an email directing us to an interactive set of youtube videos. After making the right choices to guide a witness to one of the Origami Killer’s killings to safety, players were given a URL leading to a .zip file, which lead them to a new Twitter page. Then on Friday, all players were emailed a new link to visit. After logging in, those on the site had to pick the correct evidence to receive a special reward.
