We followed this campaign hoping it was for a film (possibly even The Dark Knight Rises). Even though our coverage waned when we found out it was for gum, the campaign itself was still incredibly impressive, which shouldn’t be surprising considering it was/is run by 42 Entertainment. It’s that time of year again. This is our 3rd Annual MovieViral Awards, where YOU the fan gets to vote for the winners! Our staff has chosen the nominees, but the final decision rests with you. After the break, vote in each category for which virals deserved to be recognized. The polls will close on Tuesday, January 17th at 11:59 PM (Pacific time), so get your votes in now! We’ll announce the results on January 18th.

Check the bottom of this article for links to the nominated campaigns, and we’ll have links right below each category for the more specific nominees. While most of the categories are self explanatory, remember that “Best Tie-In Campaign” is for the campaign and film that worked together the best, meaning there was a lot of crossover in plot, characters, imagery, etc. Also, we have two new categories, “Best App” and “Best Character Social Media Account”. This year at Comic-Con, studios were a bit stingy on their giveaways, but we did manage to get some swag. At 4:30 PM Pacific Time today we will be giving said swag away on Twitter. Read more and see photos after the break.

We didn’t get a lot of cool stuff, so I’m going to make up by offering a lot per person. At 4:30 I will ask a question about this year’s Comic-Con on Twitter. The first person to reply and answer correctly gets to pick their prizes as I show below. Then I will announce the time that the 2nd question will be asked (it will be soon), and the first person to reply to that question gets the rest. There will be only two winners overall. Below is the list of items and how they will be broken up.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been 2 years, but on January 29, 2009, MovieViral was officially born.
