Exclusive Crazies Comic Book Review

Posted by Dan Koelsch On February - 17 - 20103 COMMENTS

craziescomiccovers Exclusive Crazies Comic Book Review

Most films that have viral campaigns do so because there is so much backstory worth exploring, yet they cannot waste time (and pacing) in the film to flesh it all out. The Crazies falls into that category, as the events leading up to the outbreak are glossed over in favor of getting right to the action. Fortunately, along with the viral campaign, the filmmakers decided to release comic books to give us some more insight into the outbreak itself. There are four comics in total, each named after one of the water sources that deliver the toxin to the town. The first two issues are set to be in stores today, but we got an advanced copy. Check out my review of “Hopman Bog” and “Dwyer Creek” after the jump, as well as the interesting packaging I received them in, and even a trailer.

The Crazies Viral Exclusive: Kim Jonson Attacked

Posted by Dan Koelsch On February - 17 - 20102 COMMENTS

kimjonson The Crazies Viral Exclusive: Kim Jonson Attacked

In The Crazies viral campaign, Kim Jonson runs SaveOgdenMarsh.com, a blog where she tries to combat DP Chemicals’ local plant. It’s basically an environment activist site. Kim periodically makes videos for Eugene, who runs TheTruthAboutTrixie.com, a site where Eugene discusses and asks for help researching a secret military virus that makes you crazy. The premise of the movie is that the virus gets in the water and infects the town of Ogden Marsh, but the viral has yet to directly show that happening…until now. Check out the exciting video after the jump.

LOST: 6×04 “The Substitute” Recap and Review

lostfinalseason 1 LOST: 6×04 “The Substitute” Recap and Review

ABC’s LOST is in the beginning of it’s 6th and final season, with the 4th episode The Substitute having aired tonight. This episode was a vast improvement over the last episode, What Kate Does, which felt like a complete filler episode. In this episode we follow the alt reality John Locke, still wheel-chair bound and almost completely hopeless, with one twist: Helen, the girl he met through anger management still there by his side, when in the other alternate reality, she left him a while back because John was obsessed with his con man/father.  The rest of the recap and review after the jump.

The Room – A Fan Made Viral Campaign

Posted by Craig Skinner On February - 16 - 20101 COMMENT

scream The Room – A Fan Made Viral Campaign

On June 23rd 2003, Tommy Wiseau premiered The Room to an unsuspecting LA audience, which included notable critic Scott Foundas, and the reaction was not good. The film was clearly supposed to be a drama, with the tagline “A film with the passion of Tennessee Williams.” but, according to Foundas, it resulted in laughter from the audience and people demanding their money back. It was the creation of the relatively unknown Tommy Wiseau who paid an extortionate amount of money to place a billboard on Highland Avenue in LA for five years advertising the film. In fact one of the most shocking things about The Room is that it supposedly cost $7 million to make and market, despite the film looking a lot like a cheap student film. Wiseau is often asked about how he raised the money but has offered little more insight than the story that he made some of it selling imported leather jackets.

tronzero Tron Legacy Viral Adds Countdown to New Trailer?

Way back at San Diego Comic-Con 2009, Disney Pictures released the beginning of their viral campaign for the much anticipated Tron Legacy, the sequel to the 1982 sci-fi action adventure film starring Jeff Bridges. 42 Entertainment, the same people behind The Dark Knight’s amazing viral campaign, were given the opportunity to do the viral for the upcoming Disney film, starting out with tokens to an actual arcade called Flynn’s Arcade, where we later found out about the site Flynn Lives. Earlier today ComingSoon reported that the Flynn Lives group sent one if his readers a box containing a rather odd star. Find out more after the jump.

batmanriddler Batman 3 Character Rumors: Riddler Again

Normally any anonymous rumor (especially for big movies) is immediately disregarded and thrown to the rumor mill trash bin, but recent news can support the rumors this time for the potential sequel to The Dark Knight. Brent Sprecher, an editor from comicbookmovie.com, has several little tip-offs from a “Plot Outliner” at Warner Bros, who wished to remain anonymous. Check them out after the jump.
