Online Campaign To Get Muppets To Host Oscars Heats Up With Eddie Murphy’s Departure

After Brett Ratner stepped down from producing the 2012 Academy Awards yesterday, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before host Eddie Murphy would step down as well, since Ratner had been the one to recruit him in the first place. Today we indeed got the news that Murphy will not host the Oscars, so who should be his replacement? One online campaign is pushing for an unusual choice: The Muppets.

Elaborate Bansky Oscar Campaign or Mr. Brainwash Street Art?


Exit Through the Gift Shop was not only a hit at last year’s Sundance, it has already achieved a cult status within the film community. Not only that, but the film that documented street artists like Bansky and Mr. Brainwash has earned itself an Oscar nomination for Best Documentary. In response to the nomination Bansky has said, “I don’t agree with the concept of award ceremonies, but I’m prepared to make an exception for the ones I’m nominated for.”

Oscar Nominations Announced, Snubs Spark Online Outrage

The biggest award show in Hollywood is drawing closer, and we’ve taken the first big step this morning with the announcement of the nominees for the Academy Awards. Like usual, there are some surprising snubs, but none more so than Christopher Nolan not getting nominated for Best Director for Inception, despite the film lighting up the nomination boards, including Best Picture.
