ST A&D

Sorry for the long break. Let’s get down to business. So now two more virals have come to pass this year, with Star Trek and Angels & Demons now behind us. Listen to our review of the viral campaigns in our ViralCast.

ROTF Viral

With the death of two virals, a new viral is born. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has finally started a viral campaign with a couple of sites that so far don’t mean much to me. Check out the links here, or check out our Transformers page.

More viral news after the jump.

Angels & Demons Review

Posted by Nick Butler On May - 15 - 2009

Angels & Demons

There has been much controversy over the new Ron Howard film, Angels & Demons, which released April 15th. This cinematic sequel to The Da Vinci Code calls on Robert Langdon – a Harvard Symbolist – once again, but this time to help the Catholic Church. Ron Howard takes the crowd on an exciting experience throughout Rome and the Vatican City. And it ends, one would say, with a bang. Read more after the jump.

This Week In Viral – Our First Viral Ends

Posted by Dan Koelsch On March - 15 - 2009

thisweekinviral This Week In Viral – Our First Viral Ends

The Watchmen viral appears to be officially over, as noted by the elimination of its page from our site. This is the first viral we’ve covered at MoveViral to end, so this is an important moment for us. Check out the forum if you want to talk about your reaction to the film, and we have a few reviews on the main page, including our ViralCast Special. We’ll have a review of the viral itself soon. I guess I can’t continue to use titles claiming not much is going on in viral, because that’s going to get old really quick. A few viral updates after the jump…

thisweekinviral This Week In Viral – Cloverfield 2?

That’s right, JJ Abrams spoke at WonderCon about the possibility of Cloverfield 2. Here is the video:

Not much more than what he and Director Matt Reeves have said in the past, though it seems like they finally have a good idea for the sequel/spin off.

It’s been a relatively quiet week in viral campaigns, with just a few small updates to 2012, Angels & Demons, Terminator, and Watchmen.

Site Update

Posted by Dan Koelsch On February - 7 - 2009

As you may have noticed, we have now added separate pages for each of the films currently with viral campaigns (at least the ones we know). This is just the basics, so if you want in-depth analysis and speculation, check out the forum. Each page has a link to the thread or section in the forum for that film.

Current Viral Campaigns

Posted by Dan Koelsch On January - 31 - 2009

Now you know who we are and what we do. So what movies currently have viral campaigns going on? Here’s a quick introductory summary. Don’t worry, we’ll have much more coverage leading up to these films.

Watchmen (Opens 3/6/09):

This film, adapted from the critically-acclaimed graphic novel by Alan Moore, has a lot of hype, but only one viral site to speak of, and that is thenewfrontiersman.net., based off the newspaper in the story. However, there is a Direct-to-DVD release of Black Freighter and Under The Hood, which were intermission stories between chapters.

Star Trek (Opens 5/8/09):

This reboot of the famed franchise is headed by JJ Abrams, and is looking to be a big summer action film. The film chronicles how Kirk, Spock, and the rest of the original crew first got together. So far the only viral site is NCC-1701.com, which has security footage of the Enterprise being built. Several cross-promotional sites have been established by the likes of Intel and Esurance, but so far have given only minimal info on the film.

Angels and Demons (Opens 5/15/09):

The prequel to the blockbuster “Da Vinci Code” also has only one viral site, which is altarsofscience.com. The site simply has a video stream of the missing canister of antimatter that is so essential to the plot of the book.

District 9 (Opens 8/14/09):

There’s a lot of secrecy surrounding this film, even down to who’s involved and what it’s really about. According to reports and viral evidence, the movie is based off the short film “Alive in Joburg”, which is about aliens landing in Africa and becoming slaves. Peter Jackson is producing. There are several viral sites for the 2009 film, including D-9.com, MultiNationalUnited.com, MathsFromOuterSpace.com, and MNUSpreadsLies.com.

2012 (Opens 11/13/09):

The apocalyptic film by Roland Emmerich has one viral site right now: instituteforhumancontinuity.org, which offers you a lottery number to be chosen as a survivor when the Mayan-prophesized doomsday comes around.

So check out the sites, see what you can find, and post in our forum. If there’s other viral you know of, let us know!
