Last year, Travis Richey set out to bring Inspector Spacetime to the small screen after appearing on Community as the character, a spoof of Doctor Who. After the idea was shot down by NBC and Sony, Richey took matters into his own hands and decided to create his own web series using the Inspector Spacetime character and Kickstarter to fund the project. NBC told him that he could not use the character name, but that did not stop him. After a very successful first season, Richey and his team are trying to Kickstart Untitled Web Series About A Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time season 2. [Read more...]

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Inspector Spacetime! “Community” Actor Launches Webseries Based on Character
When Travis Richey shot his first scene as Inspector Spacetime (Community‘s Doctor Who equivalent), he immediately saw the potential of the character outside of a cameo here and there. So Richey set out to create a web series with his writing partner and pitched it to NBC and Sony. That didn’t work out so well, even when he went through “official channels.” However, that didn’t stop Richey and one Kickstarter later, we have the first episode of Untitled Webseries About A Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time! I was a little late to the game, but Community has become one of my favorite television shows of all time. The NBC comedy about a study group at a Colorado community college has become a cult hit, thanks in part to its plethora of pop culture references and “meta-humor”. One of the best examples of this is the May episode “Digital Estate Planning”, which takes place mostly in a 8-bit video game. Now a fan of the show has made his own version of the game. Get the details after the break.

Last month, it was revealed that Community would be going on an extended hiatus during NBC’s midseason schedule. Fans worried that NBC was canceling the show (it is one of the lowest rated shows on network television) and started a “Save Community” campaign. It seems now the cast of Community has gotten worried about their fate (even though the 22 episodes ordered for this season are going to be produced) and have put together a “Save Greendale” video! Check it out after the break. [Read more...]
