By now you must have heard the news that Community will live on to see season 6. While fans every where have already shared their thoughts using the #communityliveson on social media platforms, we haven’t officially heard from the cast of Community. Well, almost all of them shared their sentiments about the great news on Twitter. Even creator Dan Harmon and some of the writers of the show shared their thoughts. All very good thoughts of course. But the good news doesn’t stop there. A Sony Exec is actually exploring the idea of a movie? Hit the jump to see what he and the people of Community had to say. [Read more...]
There was a time when fans of a sitcom or drama would send a massive amount of postage mail to TV studio execs to keep their show alive. But in an age of social media, we now have the much more cost-effective hashtags and memes to turn to. One praticular show that is currently on the bubble is Community. Having ending it’s fifth season just a few weeks ago, a new, and very timely, social media campaign to keep the show alive.
You see, there is an ongoing joke what Abed (Danny Pudi) started when he was obbessed with another NBC short-lived superhero drama called The Cape. While Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) said it wouldn’t last very long, Abed quickly retorted: Six Seasons and a Movie.
Since then, it has been fans hope that there would be six seasons, and possibly a movie. So that time is now.Gill See how fans are banding together to see their six seasons and a movie come alive after the jump. [Read more...]
It’s mid-July, so that means San Diego Comic-Con is right around the corner. In fact, the festivities start this week with Preview Night on Wednesday. We at MovieViral will once again be covering the convention live from the floor, but this time will be a little different. We’ve been officially covering Comic-Con since 2010, and every year only I, Dan, have gone. Our other editors and writers have helped from home. This time, I’ve got back up, as three more members of our crew are joining me in San Diego: staff writer Michael Lee, contributing writer Caleb Hamilton, and event correspondent Joshua Butler. After the break, we’ll give you a preview of what to expect from Comic-Con and our coverage.
Last year, Travis Richey set out to bring Inspector Spacetime to the small screen after appearing on Community as the character, a spoof of Doctor Who. After the idea was shot down by NBC and Sony, Richey took matters into his own hands and decided to create his own web series using the Inspector Spacetime character and Kickstarter to fund the project. NBC told him that he could not use the character name, but that did not stop him. After a very successful first season, Richey and his team are trying to Kickstart Untitled Web Series About A Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time season 2. [Read more...]

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Inspector Spacetime! “Community” Actor Launches Webseries Based on Character
When Travis Richey shot his first scene as Inspector Spacetime (Community‘s Doctor Who equivalent), he immediately saw the potential of the character outside of a cameo here and there. So Richey set out to create a web series with his writing partner and pitched it to NBC and Sony. That didn’t work out so well, even when he went through “official channels.” However, that didn’t stop Richey and one Kickstarter later, we have the first episode of Untitled Webseries About A Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time! More after the jump. [Read more...]

I was a little late to the game, but Community has become one of my favorite television shows of all time. The NBC comedy about a study group at a Colorado community college has become a cult hit, thanks in part to its plethora of pop culture references and “meta-humor”. One of the best examples of this is the May episode “Digital Estate Planning”, which takes place mostly in a 8-bit video game. Now a fan of the show has made his own version of the game. Get the details after the break.
