The 2010 Los Angeles Film Festival kicked off this weekend, and MovieViral is covering the fest in partnership with FusedFilm. So far we’ve gotten some fascinating interviews with great filmmakers. On Friday we had a very special screening of Pink Floyd The Wall, for which Christopher Nolan was in attendance. Afterwards, the director discussed the influence of the film on his work, including his latest project Inception. Last night, J.J. Abrams interviewed Edgar Wright on his career and the upcoming Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.

Aubrey Plaza Goes Virally Crazy Over Super 8

Actress Aubrey Plaza (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, Parks and Recreation) is one of many viewers who were impressed by the teaser trailer for Super 8. So, it is perfectly understandable that she would be curious to see what’s inside the train and tweet about it. Seven times. Then make a blog about it just to shout the question “What’s in dat box, JJ?!” Yeah…..maybe she’s a little to into it.

Paramount Casting Notice Not for Super 8, But For Another Abrams Project?

On Friday, we reported on a casting notice sent from Paramount to a few film blogs (specifically /Film). While this usually isn’t a big thing, the anonymous nature of the film and a few suspicous details led us to believe that this could be for J.J. Abrams’ new film Super 8. Given how little is known about the sci-fi flick, we jumped on the idea, but now it looks like we may be wrong. Find out what movie this open casting call is supposedly for after the break.

Official Super 8 Trailer Now Online!

Paramount has released an official online version of J.J. Abrams’ Super 8 trailer, and let me tell you, it looks much better in high definition than it did bootlegged. As Alex from FirstShowing mentions, there’s strangely some extra footage at the end that’s just black and has no sound (that I could hear). We’ll see if it ties into the viral at all. You can download the trailer for yourself in HD on Apple, or watch it embedded after the jump.

Scariest Thing I Ever Saw: “Super 8″ Viral Campaign Launched

A few days ago, it was announced that a new mysterious project from J.J. Abrams called Super 8 was debuting its teaser trailer in front of Marvel Studio’s Iron Man 2. Originally speculated to be a prequel or sequel to 2008′s Cloverfield, the news hit the internet by storm and got everyone to question what this new project was about. At first it was rumored to be a Cloverfield prequel and was set to take place in the 70s or 80′s revolving around kids that find an alien in a frame of their 8mm camera, hinted by the name Super 8, but this was soon debunked and the trailer was leaked onto the internet. You can watch the leaked trailer again and see the viral website after the jump.
