New Sexual Kick Ass Red Band Trailer

An international trailer and poster for Kick-Ass was released earlier this month and now there’s a new red band trailer that’s much more vulgar and bloody, among other things. It’s another profiling trailer for Marv that is similar to the trailer for Hit Girl, the murderous foul mouthed little girl seemingly ripped right out of a South Park episode. But, unlike the previous trailers, this one has more sexual segments surrounding Marv’s typical high school situations and is twice as long. Check it out after the jump.

Kick-Ass: New Hit Girl Trailer and Real Life Superheroes

I’ll admit that I am one of the few people in my field who is not that excited about Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass. I’ve never read the comic, and the trailers and posters so far have not made me any more a believer. That was until I saw this puppy embedded below, courtesy of Trailer Addict. It’s the red band trailer for “Hit Girl”, a character in the film. It’s definitely worth a look.

It the rest of the movie has that same tone and action, I’m in.

In other Kick-Ass news, the film taken over the Real Life SuperHeroes homepage, with the customary background and regular ads all being taken up. For those unfamiliar with the website, it basically brings the concept of Kick-Ass to the real world (which is of course why it’s perfect for the film’s advertising). Here’s a blurb from the site about what they do:

The Real Life Superheroes is a grassroots movement that works in a fun, exciting, and inspirational fashion to make the world a better place. We are using the iconicism of comic book superheroes to make a difference, inspire others, spread a positive message, and call attention to issues in our communities. The Real Life Superheroes work to make the world a better place by doing civic activities, charity work, public safety patrols, hospital visits, school talks, distributing wanted and missing person fliers, helping the homeless, community clean-ups, and more. From crime fighting to charity work real life superheroes seek to help make a positive difference in their communities.

It’s a great concept, and there’s a lot on the site to check out, like events, artwork, videos, and much more. Be sure to head on over there and join the fight!

Kick-Ass, about people without powers who choose to be superheroes, is directed by Matthew Vaughn, whose works include Layer Cake and Stardust. The story is an adaptation of Mark Millar’s comic of the same name that is currently in the middle of its first series. The film is set to release on April 16th, 2010.

Do you know what would be Kick Ass? A teaser trailer!

British directors are making a comeback, exploding into the movie scene with 2 of the most anticipated movies of the next 6 months! As you have read recently, Guy Ritchie is bringing Sherlock Holmes to our screens on Christmas day, and now the other half of the Lock Stock Duo is bringing his latest film, Kick-Ass, in April. Cristian wrote about this film WAY back in August, but now we have the first teaser trailer thanks to our friends at Fused Film. Check it out yourself:

Matthew Vaughn has brought some great films from the directors chair, particularly Layer Cake and Stardust, and after watching the teaser, it looks like this will be exactly the same.

So we’ve had a trailer and some posters, so does this mean the viral will start up again? I hope so, because there seems to be a great base for a campaign! It’s all to obvious that the main character, Dave Lizewski, is recruiting ordinary folks like you and me to join him.
What did you think of the trailer and Dave does start recruiting, what would you call yourself? Comments below or visit us at our forums.

You Know What Would Kick-Ass?

My name is Cristian and I am one of the new Contributing writers here at Movieviral.com. My two biggest passions in life are comics and cinema, so for my first article, I’m going to write about one of last years critically acclaimed comics and upcoming movie, Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass.

For those of you who don’t know, Kick-Ass is about high school student, David Lizewski, a nerdy comic book fan who one day puts on a costume and fight crimes like all his comic book heroes.

As they were working with the comic, Mark Millar and artist John Romita Jr. worked closely with Director Matthew Vaughn (Layercake, Stardust) on a movie adaptation of the comic. Earlier this summer at Comic-Con San Diego, footage from the movie was showed for the first time. The people who saw the footage were very impressed, and it even got standing ovations.

As a way to promote the comic on the internet before the release of the first issue in early 2008, a Myspace site was set up for a “Kick-Ass, a real-life superhero.” On the page, “Kick-Ass” asks for other crime-fighters to contact him and join his group. He also mentions that Mark Millar is making a comic book about him and his adventures. To me that is very smart, because the comic is set in our world not the world of Superheroes. It gives the comic another level of realism.

The most interesting thing on the site though is a video from Youtube. I actually saw the Video before I found the Myspace and I thought it was really awesome. You can watch it below:

Editors Note: Video contains strong language.

The text attached to the video says that the video was taken by a fan with a mobile phone when he helped someone who was getting mugged at a car park outside a supermarket. Kick-Ass also asks other people with footage of him to post a link on his Myspace.

After the Comic was released the viral kind of died out. The blog at the Myspace page hasn’t been updated since February 25th. A shame really, because the Myspace and Youtube video were really cool ways to create an interest for the comic. It certainly woke my interest for the comic, and now when the movie is coming out sometime next year, it wouldn’t take much to create a great viral since the foundation is already there with the Myspace page.

I would love if they started up the viral again. Why not do something like the District 9 viral, but instead of asking for alien sightings ask for superhero sightings. Another cool thing would be to create local superhero teams in different cities and involve the fans by asking them to create their own masked crime-fighter and join the teams. Personally, I would love to create my own character and make my own costume. That’s just some ideas I have to kick start the Kick-Ass viral again. What do you guys think?
