As technology has progressed, consumers have seen the rise of an expansive market for movie prop replicas. Unfortunately, while the products themselves have been stellar, from lightsabers to swords from Middle Earth, they carry a hefty price tag. It is always refreshing then to see then a prop emerge that is not only awesome, but affordable. Prop maker and collectables producer Quantum Mechanix has just announced the production of a replica Argus Cube from J.J. Abrams’ Super 8. Hit the jump for details, because you know you want one.
Briefly: While the title to this story may seem benign, it’s important to remember that Star Trek: The Next Generation only had 7 seasons. The Twitter account @TNG_S8 looks to rectify that by providing fake TV Guide-like synopses of the unaired episodes. We get such gems as “A planet of genderless aliens invent sexuality in honor of Riker. Premium movie channel EPIX is counting down to its 48-hour marathon dedicated to Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner. Shatner-Palooza kicks off July 21th with the premiere of Shatner’s documentary, The Captains, in which he interviews every actor to portray a starship or space station captain in a Star Trek series or movie.
