While the marketing campaigns for Thor and X-Men: First Class have subsided with the release of the films, Marvel’s summer movie season is far from over. With Captain America: The First Avenger due out July 22nd, there has certainly been an increase in television spots, but look for more product tie-ins and promotional campaigns to emerge in the coming weeks. Marvel Studios’ Thor is one epic journey that should not be taken by the faint of heart. Many people thought it couldn’t be done. They asked, “How are you gonna do Thor?” The comics are full of magic, myth and action; a challenge to put onto the screen. When it was announced that Kenneth Branagh would be directing, I was in doubt. Branagh, being a classically trained, Shakespearian actor wouldn’t know his way around a comic book movie! But you can’t knock it until you experience it and Thor…is one hell of an experience.

Last March we reported that a viral campaign for Thor and The Avengers was being launched. JoinShield.com made its viral debut at the C2E2, a comic and entertainment event regularly held in Chicago. There attendees were able to submit their e-mail addresses and “become” agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
