Well, you have to give them credit for trying. Yesterday we reported that a movie theater in Ohio (and possibly others) seemed to be part of Disney’s viral marketing campaign for Tron Legacy. However, it turns out that Marcus Crosswoods Cinema had taken it upon themselves to set up their Encom-branded website and the QR Code display that lead people to it. Since it is unofficial, Disney has asked them to take it down. Read the statement on the now defunct site after the break.

We’ve been keeping tabs on talk that some of the Tron Legacy standees in movie theaters have QR codes alongside them. Now we have proof of at least one in Ohio, which leads to a cross-promotional website for that particular movie theater. It in, it says that Encom is sponsoring the theater, and the fictional game company is releasing Tron Legacy as a movie version of their game. There doesn’t seem to be more to it than that, but we’ll update if necessary. Read the official press release after the break.
Back in June, Nokia held their Connection 2010 conference in Singapore, an annual event where the tech company showcases their current devices and more. While showing the video playback feature on their Nokia N8 phone, they happened to show a clip from Tron Legacy. A clip with new footage that’s just now been found. Check it out after the break.
It may be hypocritical to mention this new Tron Legacy poster from Hungary considering we neglected to cover the French poster that looks even cooler. However, I actually met Beau Garrett at Comic-Con, the actress featured in the new poster, and i can’t get over the odd-looking green Tron city in the background. Garrett plays Gem, the lead “Siren” who helps contestants of the Grid Game armor up for the big event. Check out the poster after the break.

Neville Page has become the go-to guy in Hollywood for designing pretty much anything that needs to be rendered in CGI. His specialty has been in creature design (i.e. Cloverfield, Star Trek, Avatar, Piranha 3D), but he is also a concept designer on Tron Legacy and has a star-studded resume. From his list of recent work, you can tell that J.J. Abrams is a fan, so it’s no surprise that Page is back to design…something for Super 8. Watch him talk to Wired Magazine about Super 8 and his other work in the video below.

Today we’ve got some cool fan made productions for two of our biggest films we’ve covered. First, a few months ago, MNPC Tech did a computer mod on a Cooler Master 840 ATCS, and they chose a District 9 theme. You can follow how they did it here, and see a few pictures of the computer, as well as a video of the build, after the break. Also after the break are some photos of a really cool concept hoodie (and a t-shirt, though that didn’t catch my eye much) that Nicholas Miller designed after Tron Legacy.
Briefly: Tron Legacy really kicked off its viral campaign in February, when the Zero Hour website lead to coordinates in cities around the world, where players could pick up dead drop packages that included a pre-paid cell phone that lead to ANOTHER package that some other cool things inside. Now, thanks to players on Unfiction, we know that money has been added to the cell phone accounts, meaning there are more activities ahead. What could they be? We have yet another Tron Legacy remix video, this time from London-based audio-visual act Eclectic Method. The video combines clips from the Tron Legacy trailers and the original Tron with Daft Punk music to create “Daft Tron”. Check it out after the break.
