Trailers Weekly: “Upside Down,” “Chronicle,” “Thin Ice,” “Silent House,” “ATM” Michael Lee, January 7, 2012December 27, 2012 Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. Its a new year (and possibly our very last if the Mayans are right), and that means we are getting new trailers. This week we saw trailers for Upside Down, Chronicle, Thin Ice, Silent House, and ATM. So hit the jump to see them all.Upside Down To be honest I thought the film was a bit cheesy, but then I took a look at the trailer, I am was pleasantly surprised. Though the trailer contains a bit of French text, the dialogue itself is in English, and explores a world shared by people who live upside down from each other. Kristen Stewart and Jim Sturgress star.Chronicle Chronicle seems ripe for a viral, but we never got one. Probably because it just wasn’t in the budget. Redgardless, this found-footage film looks pretty cool, and takes a realistic look at what happens when normal people gain superpowers.Thin Ice There is a bit of irony in the title. Its actually an ice cold crime drama. The film stars Greg Kinnear and BIlly Craddup as two people who are trying to solve a murder. There appears to be a touch of Coen Brothers movie as there are hints of Fargo that appear throughout the trailer.Silent House Elizabeth Olsen continues here hot streak (currently standing at two movies) with Silent House. The movie itself looks like it was shot all in one take so that audiences think it is all happening in real time. The trailer may look like its revealing a bit too much, due to its length, but I think horror fans will be satisfied with the complete project when it hits theaters.ATM What do phone booths, wooden coffins, and ATMs have in common. All of their movie chracters were trapped in them. Although in ATM, we have three people trapped in a dark cold ATM, with a mysterious murdering hooded figure and winter itself threatening our characters. It started to get interesting until the hooded figure decided to turn the ATM into his own personal fishbowl. What did you think of this week’s trailers? Which was your favorite?
