New Trailer Hits. And Bites. Morbius, the Living Human Vampire Hybrid Thing.
So the SONY SPIDER not quite Marvel Cinematic Universe but sort of its own thing and kinda connected (TM, 2020) has dropped its latest trailer. MORBIUS. Starring the artist formerly known as Joker, Jared Leto. This is no relation to The Brain of Morbius in Doctor Who.
I am at a loss as to why this film was made, what its intended audience is, where it fits with either VENOM verse or Spider-Man in Marvel..and frankly, I do not care. Yet. I might. I thought Venom would be awful and I adore that movie and look forward to its sequels.
Objectively speaking? Its visuals are stunning and its tone looks serious without being too sombre. Leto will be great because he usually is. There is a tantalising cameo at the end of the trailer. The look of the character mirrors, exactly what one sees in a comic book and it is great to see the imagery, alive, without compromising either a filmmaker’s vision or the adherence to the source material.
Subjectively? Meh. ANOTHER sodding reinvention of VAMPIRES? ANOTHER ruddy SUPERHERO / ANTIHERO ORIGIN STORY! Yawn. But hey that’s just me. YOU may LOVE it. Here we go..
